Six celebrated chefs were among 11 experienced professionals receiving honours from Thames Valley University at its annual prize giving ceremony held on March 25.
Chefs Raymond Blanc, Steve Munkley, Nigel Boschetti Anthony Marshall, Derek Quelch and Gilles Quillot were all rewarded for their contribution to the hospitality industry. The awards were presented by the London School of Hospitality and Tourism's vice chancellor Professor Peter John at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Syon Park in West London, where prizes were also awarded to 51 students from the school. Guest of honour Sir Rocco Forte, chairman and chief Executive of The Rocco Forte Collection and William Brake, founder and former chairman of Brake Brothers, presented students with their prizes which included trophies and shields. Current student Lorraine Pascale received an award for "the most outstanding contribution" to the life of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism. Pascale has been enjoying success with a prime time TV show on BBC2 called 'Baking Made Easy', a book which went straight to the top three for Amazon's Food and Drink bestsellers list, and her own cupcake business. Head of school Professor David Foskett said: "We are honoured that senior industry professionals, who have given so much to raise the profile of hospitality and tourism, have accepted the recognition they deserve and congratulations to our best performing students.
