Top chefs sign up to Seafood Fortnight
Top chefs including Phil Vickery, Nick Nairn and Brian Turner have signed up to pledge their support in this year's Seafood Fortnight, which will run from 5-21 September.
The celebrity chefs will be contributing new and innovative seafood recipes to help increase awareness of how easy it can be for everyone to eat their recommended '2 a week'.
Phil Vickery commented: "We are so lucky to have a coastline that supplies us with a vast array of fish and shellfish. With so many delicious species available, consumers have an abundance of tasty seafood to choose from wherever they are in the country.
He added: "I'd love to see people trying new recipes with some of the amazing produce Britain has to offer and Seafood Fortnight gives everyone the perfect opportunity to try some new seafood dishes in restaurants and kitchens across the country."
Nutritionists agree that everyone should aim to eat a minimum of two portions of seafood every week. At least one of the portions should be oil-rich, such as mackerel or herring, which supply valuable omega-3 fatty acids to help maintain a healthy heart.
