Unox builds sustainable & innovative industrial hub costing over €100m

Written by: Edward Waddell
Over a thousand people attended the inauguration of Unox City in Padua, the new 130,000 m² sustainable and innovative industrial hub developed with an investment of more than €100 million (£86m).

The complex brings together production facilities, a logistics hub, an Innovation Hub and an Experience Hub, representing a major milestone in the group’s ongoing development.

All manufacturing processes take place within the province of Padua, just a few kilometres from Unox’s headquarters. Alongside the launch of the company’s new manufacturing facility in the United States, Unox says this marks a ‘decisive step’ in their growth and global expansion.

Enrico Franzolin, chairman and founder of Unox, said: “Since the 1990s, when many companies were relocating abroad, we made a different choice: to stay and invest in our region, building a local and integrated production system.

“Unox City is the culmination of a strategy that has allowed us to keep our supply chain in Italy, strengthen a vertically integrated industrial model, and create new opportunities for work and growth for hundreds of people.”

Unox City is part of a broader industrial plan that includes a total of 12 manufacturing facilities in Italy, reaffirming the group’s commitment to positioning the country as the core of its operations and a catalyst for local economic development. Employment is expected to more than double, from the current 800 to as many as 1,800 jobs.

Nicola Michelon, chief executive at Unox, added: “Unox City marks the beginning of a new phase in our internationalisation. Just this week, we launched production at our new U.S. facility — our first abroad and a key element in a strategy that places Italy at the heart of our global network.”
